Training Delivery Network
The LearningSpan Training Delivery Network and supporting learning management system (LMS) is scalable, entirely web-based, and is hosted in a secure environment at one of the largest Internet peering points in the world. Engineered to leverage state-of-the-art Internet content delivery methods and network infrastructure, the courseware delivery platform provides users with:
• Maximum Uptime
• Complete Redundancy
• Secure, World-wide Footprint
• Speed of Content Delivery
• Microsoft SQL database facilitates data import and export
• Supports eTraining standards SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004
The LearningSpan Training Delivery Network operates in a secure environment to prevent pirating, and unauthorized use of courseware. All interactions are user name and password protected. During the login process a security key is issued to the access point. The security key is then used in conjunction with host identifications techniques to secure sensitive data and areas of LearningSpan.
LearningSpan’s stringent security requirements are also adhered to through firewall management, 24/7 network monitoring and basic intrusion detection monitoring. Backups are performed locally on a 10Gb network backbone. All media is archived to an off-site storage facility for full disaster recovery contingencies.
The LearningSpan Training Delivery Network is hosted at the Equinix, Inc. Internet Business Exchange™ (IBX®) center in Ashburn, Virginia. Equinix IBX® centers serve as core hubs for critical IP networks and Internet operations worldwide, as well as MAE-EAST, one of the largest peering points in the world. Through the Equinix IBX® center, LearningSpan can access over 90% of the world's Internet networks and users.
LMS - LearningSpan Management System
The LearningSpan Training Delivery Network includes a comprehensive LMS which allows for the configuration of training curricula and tracks individual learners’ progress and performance. The LMS keeps track of users accessing the library, and for how long.
After initial setup and training, using the LearningSpan LMS to deliver, monitor and manage training is quite simple. Customers will have their own dedicated Company Account on LearningSpan, and each Company Account will appoint a Company Administrator.
A registration module provides Company Account, user and user group ID’s, together with unique logins and passwords. The registration module tracks information associated with a Company Account, user, group of users, and courses taken.
Company Administrators manage all courseware access permissions over the Internet via their Company Account. The LMS allows the Company Administrator to tailor individualized training programs for their employees, based on job function, experience and skill level. Company Administrators can assign training by Department, or create “User Groups”, and then assign individual employees to Groups as appropriate.
Users are assigned unique login ID’s and passwords, permitting access to courses pre-authorized by the Company Administrator. From PC’s with a broadband access to the Internet, Users simply login, select one of the assigned courses, launch the course, and begin learning. Once logged in, Users have easy access to assigned courses, as well as a dashboard to view completed courses, courses started and yet to be completed, and test results if applicable.
As courses are launched and used, a usage record is created that serves as the basis for reporting to the Company Administrator and posting to each User’s Training Transcript.
A metering module keeps track of each course session, when the course was launched, and for how long the training session ran.
Pre and Post course testing, with appropriate record keeping is available.
